TAO and BOLD (Broward Organized Leaders Doing) Justice

TAO is currently looking to partner with BOLD Justice: Together we stand Bold for Justice.

We are asking TAO members to view Bold Justice’s last big Nehemiah Action meeting event of their advocacy year on March 15, 2021 at 7:30 pm on Zoom. The link to register is: https://bit.ly/nehemiah-action-register

At this meeting, the focus will be on looking for better housing services for homeless individuals living with mental illness. They will also be working on criminal justice reform – specifically pushing for better diversion for both juveniles and adults through the expansion of civil citation. State Attorney Harold Pryor and several county commissioners will be present.

All 26 member religious congregations (or about 1500 Zoom attendees) with Bold Justice will present to Broward County government officials and ask them to actually take action on issues. The state attorney and several county commissioners committed to be in attendance to respond to the requests.

Please register and let Sherry Stern ([email protected] or 612 201-9835) know if you will be attending on March 15 so you can be added to our TAO list.

BOLD Justice’s mission is to powerfully address community issues in Broward County through a self-sustaining, interfaith, interracial, proactive organization rooted in religious congregations. BOLD Justice (Broward Organized Leaders Doing Justice) is a politically non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization composed of congregations from different racial/ethnic and religious backgrounds.

They are a direct-action organization that holds community leaders accountable to solve serious community problems that affect Broward County residents and local businesses. They have won victories related to Affordable Housing, Dental Care, Juvenile Arrests, Jobs, Unemployment, and Education. They are currently working on Senior Care, Mental Health, and Juvenile and Adult Arrests.

Wayne Rogers and Cecile Dumornay have been involved with Bold Justice and are also happy to answer questions about the organization.

There is an organization, P.E.A.C.E., that has the same mission for Palm Beach County. At this time, we are taking things one step at a time and only focusing on Broward County. It would be helpful if interested Palm Beach County residents would also participate now as we gain valuable process experience in Broward County.

As a Jewish member congregation with Bold Justice, we would be able to advocate for issues related to inequality that affect all of us in the congregation in varied ways.

Thank you in advance for registering to join us on March 15th.

Should you wish to attend the follow-up discussion meeting but cannot be present on March 15th please email Sherry at [email protected].

Warmly,

Sherry Stern
