7:00 pm – Celebrate Shabbat with TAO with Rabbi Marc and Rabbi Jill Hammer

TAO – Temple Adath Or – is a community of light. A Kabbalah-based community, TAO is led by Rabbi Marc Labowitz, a visionary leader bringing his warmth, wisdom and wit to us at weekly Shabbat services.

Tonight, Rabbi Jill Hammer will be our special guest.  Her subject:

Meeting the Sabbath Bride: The Shekhinah in Jewish Sources
Rabbi Hammer will explore the meaning of the hymn Lecha Dodi and reflect on the kabbalistic notion of Shekhinah or Divine Presence.  In Jewish mystical lore, Divine Presence is embodied in the Sabbath.  The Baal Shem Tov says that our prayer is also a way of knowing Shekhinah. This teaching will offer insights into connecting with Shekhinah in our own day.
