Would a mother sacrifice her daughter to a Goddess?Yael Kanarek of Beit Toratah will lead us through the iconic and disturbing story of the Akeda as it appears in Toratah: A high mother, Emrahama, takes her beloved daughter to sacrifice her to Goddess.
About Yael Kanarek
Yael Kanarek has been a practicing visual artist and jewelry designer working across various media for 30 years, and earned her MFA in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY. In her work, she explores the role of language and narrative in forming a worldview. In 2016, after a decade of Kabbalah studies in the tradition of Baal Hasulam, and in response to the stunning void of canonical literature that codifies women’s experiences in the sacred, she began rewriting the Torah by reversing the genders of all characters. In 2020, she inaugurated Beit Toratah, to further develop and study Toratah.Her work can be viewed here:
