High Holy Days general information

PLEASE READ fully for crucial information about your ticket, location, parking and other important items regarding our High Holy Day Services.  Advance Registration is required for security reasons.  Call the TAO office at 954-888-1408 with any questions or concerns.

 A separate name tag will be issued for Yom Kippur.
Security is a priority; your name tag is your ticket. 
If you forget your name tag, you must stop by the registration desk
for a new name tag in order to join in the services.  If you go to the restroom,

please take your name tag with you for reentry into the service.

 
Yom Kippur & Neilah
Tuesday, Sept 18 (Kol Nidre) at 7:00 pm
Wednesday, Sept 19 at 10:30 am

Please stop by the registration table for your new name tag.

Members – Your tickets are included in your membership dues.
Please call the office at 954-888-1408 if you have not yet registered for High Holy Day Services.

Non-members…..Remember, the cost of your HHD tickets will be applied to your membership if you decide to join within 30 days!

Registration
  • Registration begins 30 minutes prior to each service.
  • Doors will open 15 minutes prior to each service.
  • Upon entering the sanctuary, please go to the seats nearest the stage, NOT at the back of the theater, to reduce disruption of the services.   Please move to the center seats of the rows, not the aisles.  There are no “saved seats”.
  • Please return your books to the registration area when leaving the auditorium.
  • Your name tag is your ticket. Please wear it to each service for admittance.
  • If you forget your ticket, you must stop by the registration desk to have a new name tag made.

Bring Your Shofar
Rabbi Marc invites all congregants to bring your shofar to High Holy Day services to participate in the Tekiah G’dola – Final blast only – to raise our sound to the heavens together.
Bring Shawls/Sweaters
It can be very cool in the auditorium.

Tzedakah and Mitzvot
At this most holy of days and Teshuvah, show your concern for those less fortunate by bringing canned food to each High Holy Day Service.  There will be drop-off boxes across from the registration desks.  God bless you for helping those less able to help themselves.

We Are a Child Friendly Community
Babysitting is available for all services.

Children are welcome to pray, sing and dance with us.  When we are sitting, please have children sit with you in a seat, not on the floor or in the aisles due to safety regulations.

Break-the-Fast Nosh!
Thanks to the generosity of several giving and supportive donors, we invite you to join us for a tasty Break the Fast – Cheese platters, fruit plates tuna & egg salad mini sandwiches, bagels, cream cheese, cookies, juice and coffee after the conclusion of our moving Neilah service.
Parking
TAO welcomes you to self-park in the general parking lot diagonally across from the Miniaci Center.
Free parking is available on the 2nd and 3rd floors in the public parking lot diagonally across the street from the Miniaci theater. Please do not park at the decal-only ground level, as you will be ticketed by university police. If you arrive later than 1 hour after services begin, you will need to pay for parking on the all levels of the parking lot. Please add extra time to allow for parking in the garage.


Golf Cart Transport from Parking Garage
Golf carts will be picking up riders at the first floor elevators only.  Drivers are no longer allowed to pick up passengers while they are walking – it is a safety concern.

Golf Cart Schedule:

Kol Nidre, Tues, Sept 18 – starting at 6:30 pm and until services end
Yom Kippur, Wed, Sept 19 – starting at 10:00 am and until services end

Wear White for Kol Nidre & Yom Kippur
It is tradition at TAO and many other Jewish communities to wear white for a few reasons. For some, it represents purity. For others, it’s about representing a blank slate on which to write a new story for the new year.
Special requests 
We would like cell phones to be turned completely off during our services.  Turning off the ringer on many phones does not turn off all of the sounds from notifications, texts, etc. Vibrate makes noise, too.  High Holy Days are an especially emotional time for many; please respect the solemnity of the sanctuary.
Also, please keep perfume and cologne to a minimum.  In such close space, especially when on the bima, strong fragrances may cause others to cough or sneeze.
